Nestled in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, Missing Bean Charlbury is the latest café from the independent coffee specialists, offering ethically sourced coffee, freshly baked pastries, and welcoming community spaces for all

With six cafés across Oxford and the wider Oxfordshire towns, Charlbury marks the newest addition to the Missing Bean family. The café serves ethically and sustainably sourced beans from farmers around the world, freshly roasted five days a week at their state-of-the-art East Oxford roastery.

Surrounded by the stunning Cotswolds scenery, the Charlbury café is the perfect spot to catch up with friends or grab a coffee on the go. From a morning flat white to a leisurely lunch, Missing Bean offers a cosy spot with fantastic coffee that is sure to be a new Cotswolds favourite, for locals and tourists alike.

The selection of sweet treats, from freshly baked banana bread to delicate pastries, are all made in-house each day using local ingredients and suppliers.

With two sites (Turl Street, Botley) and a roastery (Magdalen Road) in Oxford alongside cafés in Abingdon, Woodstock and now Charlbury; community lies at the heart of Missing Bean. From partnering with local food suppliers to hosting a range of events with local collaborators, Missing Bean is always showcasing expertise in the locale. The Charlbury café’s cosy Study Room will host a variety of events throughout the year, including co-founder Vicky Troth’s pop-up during Oxford Art Week in May. Visitors can explore a variety of unique items, from delicate tea-light holders to elegant bowls and decorative ornaments, each thoughtfully designed and carefully made. The pop-up will run daily from 9th –17th May. The Study Room is a versatile space that is perfect for meetings, creative pop-ups, workshops, and intimate gatherings, offering a relaxed and inspiring setting at the heart of the café.

Missing Bean’s co-founder, Vicky Troth said, “Charlbury is my hometown, so when it came to opening a new site for Missing Bean, it only made sense to do it here. The site we’ve chosen is charming; and we’re only an hour outside London, placing us in a location that’s easily accessible to everyone. With the support of the local community, we’ve created a space that celebrates exceptional coffee, where people and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do.”

For those looking to enjoy Missing Bean at home, customers can shop a wide selection of specialty coffee beans, subscription services, and brewing equipment. Fan favourites in the blend collection include The Original and The Remake, two staples of the Missing Bean, both available in various grind options. New coffees will be released in the coming weeks with the arrival of this year’s crop from Missing Bean’s direct-trade farm in the Chilchos Valley, Peru, along with a limited-edition coffee from Ruronzi Farm in Rwanda.

From the mountains of Peru to the fields of Oxford, Missing Bean works with coffee farmers around the world to deliver ethical, sustainable, and directly traded coffee. When sourcing its single-origin beans, founder Ori Halup travelled extensively to build and strengthen lasting relationships with producers. Working with farmers in Peru, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Nicaragua, Missing Bean is committed to ensuring producers receive full and fair payment for their coffee, while upholding high ethical labour standards throughout the supply chain. Good people mean good coffee!
