Tea production continues to increase, with robust consumption growth in origin and Muslim countries. However, lagging demand in Western markets, the division between black and green teas, rising production costs, and social responsibility requirements erode company profits, while farm gate prices remain low. Furthermore, adverse weather patterns impact supply and herald climate change.

Being strong-armed amid uncertainty

I promise that I was really trying to find something other than Covid-19 to write about this week because I realise I have covered it and events relating to it extensively in this space over the past month or so. However, since last week’s blog, there is now, essentially, a new world order.

Not business as usual

It has not been “business as usual” for most of 2020, but yesterday’s (11 March) declaration by the World Health Organisation (WHO) that Covid-19 is a pandemic, has further impacted people, businesses and daily life around the world, understandably.
