The Gentlemen Baristas launches new coffee with The Burnt Chef Project to raise awareness around mental health in hospitality

The Gentlemen Baristas has partnered with mental health charity The Burnt Chef Project for the release of its latest caffeinated product, Toque Hat Coffee. The coffee stalwarts, who have 10 outlets across the capital as well as their own roastery in Shadwell, are aiming to raise awareness of The Burnt Chef Project – a non-profit campaign committed to burning away the stigma and shame associated with mental health for hospitality professionals worldwide.

The limited-edition Toque Hat Coffee – available to buy now until 26 March 2021, is a Kenyan coffee best enjoyed as espresso or filter using a cafetiere to bring out its flavours which boast tasting notes of berry compote and dark chocolate, coupled with vibrant acidity. Like all Gentlemen Baristas coffee, the Toque beans are hand roasted at the Shadwell roastery guaranteeing maximum quality and taste. For every bag sold, 20% of all proceeds go to the charity raising awareness of mental health in the hospitality industry.

Henry Ayers, co-founder of Gentlemen Baristas comments: “’We pride ourselves on being family first and there for one another and that is why this project and the money we hope to raise is so important to us, not just as employers but as part of an amazing industry we love.

“Gentlemen Baristas was created not only to source, roast and sell the best coffee but also to always act responsibly. Collaborating with The Burnt Chef Project directly underlines our ethos and ambitions as a business; to serve great coffee as well as look after people who are most in need.”

Kris Hall, founder of The Burnt Chef Project comments: “Mental health is as important to hospitality as great coffee. It is the life blood that keeps us pushing on in the toughest of services. This coffee has been long awaited, and I am pleased to have partnered with such an iconic and much-loved brand within the coffee scene. A business that not only values every last member of their team but also their customers. The funds raised through sales of this coffee will allow us to aid the industry even more as we implement our new training app and Burnt Chef Support number during one of the most testing times in hospitality history.”

Toque Hat Coffee can be purchased from The Gentlemen Baristas’ online shop, and in London Bridge, Borough, Vinegar Yard, and East India branches, priced at 250g for £12 and 1kg for £38.
