The next generation of coffee leaders enroll in illy’s Master program

illycaffè has opened its ninth academic year of the inter-University level one Master’s Degree in the Economics and Science of Coffee-Ernesto Illy.

The course was developed to provide college graduates with degrees in economics, engineering and agricultural sciences a well-rounded preparation in all aspects of coffee, from the plant to the cup, including the social value of the consumption of coffee and in the cultures of producing countries.

The Master’s Degree in The Economics and Science of Coffee-Ernesto Illy is the world’s only course of its kind, and establishes the University of Trieste, Italy as the international focal point for the culture of coffee. It is the source of an expert teaching staff hailing from premier institutes around the world. Supporting partners working hand in hand with the Ernesto Illy Foundation, the program’s chief benefactor, are the University of Trieste, The University of Udine, illycaffè Spa, SISSA (The International High School for Advanced Studies in Trieste), the Consortium of Molecular Biomedicine (Area Science Park- Trieste), The CRTrieste Foundation, and the Friuli Foundation.

The 21 students enrolled in this academic year hail from 15 countries: Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Finland, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, India, Papua New Guinea, Uganda, and Venezuela.
