Toby’s Estate opens in Bushwick, NY

Toby’s Estate, specialty roaster and retailer, has opened a second location in Bushwick, New York, US. The space will function as both a retail café, and an additional roasting facility to increase coffee production.

The café will have a range of coffees on offer, tailored to different drink styles. A rotating pour-over menu highlights a selection of single origin offerings from Africa and Latin America, while espresso drinks will be made using Toby’s signature blend, featuring Ethiopian and Colombian beans, and filter offerings will include favorites like El Ramo and seasonal holiday blend, Miracle on N. 6th Street.

The 1,800 square foot café features state-of-the-art equipment, including a custom three-group La Marzocco Strada AV espresso machine, along with Mahlkonig and Mythos grinders. The pour-over bar is outfitted by Saint Anthony Industries. Select Saint Anthony Industries merchandise will also be available for purchase, such as the C70 Ceramics Brewer ($34) and the Filibuster Dual Wall Glass Decanter ($39).

The Bushwick location is home to a restored vintage Probat 22K coffee roaster, which will allow Toby’s to double its roasting capacity while staying true to the company’s small-batch philosophy. The original Williamsburg roastery, which opened in 2012 and is located on North 6th Street, serves as the roasting facility for Toby’s existing retail, e-commerce, and wholesale programs, but the growth of these programs has warranted additional roasting capacity as Toby’s expands not only in New York, but also throughout the East Coast and beyond. The Bushwick roastery will also serve as the launchpad for Toby’s Wholesale Partnership Program, a new initiative that will provide wholesale partners with additional opportunities to tailor coffee programs to their individual needs.

“We look forward to further planting our Brooklyn roots in the Bushwick neighborhood, and continuing to provide its cafés, retail coffee customers, and wholesale partners with the exceptional specialty coffee they have grown to love,” said co-owners Amber Jacobsen and Adam Boyd.

The kitchen at Toby’s Bushwick serves a daily brunch menu along with housemade grab-and-go items and pastries from local purveyors including Supermoon Bakehouse, Sans Bakery, Du’s Donuts, Nick + Sons Bakery, and King Street Kitchen. The purveyors and menu will rotate regularly, highlighting seasonal offerings.

Toby’s Bushwick is open daily from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.
