Worldwide operating green coffee service group Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) has announced a strategic partnership with innovative biochar solutions provider Cotierra to bring biochar to coffee farmers in Colombia.
Together with Cotierra and NKG’s Colombian export company SKN Caribecafé, NKG is committed to helping coffee farmers thrive in the face of real challenges: degrading soils, climate change and biodiversity loss. That’s why NKG is working on a scalable, farm-ready solution: biochar. When produced and applied correctly, biochar improves soil health and biodiversity, boosts drought resilience, and permanently stores carbon, helping farmers increase productivity while sequestering carbon emissions at origin.
Together with value chain partners and development organizations, NKG has launched two exciting projects in Huila, Colombia.
With Cotierra’s mobile, easy-to-use technology and SKN’s deep local know-how, innovation is reaching the place where it matters most, the farm. Huila alone is home to more than 84,000 coffee-farming families. The opportunity to advance climate goals and improve farmer livelihoods is enormous. This is just the beginning of reshaping coffee’s future, one farm at a time.
Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) is a globally operating green coffee service group, focusing on coffee only. In more than 40 companies in 28 countries, more than 3,300 highly skilled employees are active in the sectors Export & Milling, Import, Farming, Agents & Representative Offices, and Services.
Cotierra decarbonises agricultural supply chains with scalable biochar solutions. Its unique approach enables direct on-farm operations and measurable emission reduction and removal. By working closely with traders and farmers, Cotierra accelerates the transition to regenerative agriculture and supports a more resilient, low-carbon future.
