JOLENE, a bold, new ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee brand, is now available online, at select retailers in Los Angeles and New York City, and at live music venues and festivals in partnership with Live Nation.
JOLENE was born from a weekly coffee ritual between Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and his longtime friend Shane Powers, who share the philosophy that everything happens over coffee.
Kiedis and Powers teamed up with h.wood Group Founder John Terzian, a trusted nightlife visionary, who connected them with leading entertainment partners to bring their vision to life – Michael Rapino, CEO of Live Nation, the global leader in live music, and James Morrisey, founder of Global Brand Equities, a leading producer, owner and operator of consumer brands in the spirits industry. Together, they created JOLENE – a coffee with a pulse, built to move with the rhythm of live entertainment and meet the ambition of those living life to the fullest.
Launching with two flavours – Black (a bold cold brew) and White (a smooth oat milk latte) – JOLENE will be available in their online shop, retailers in Los Angeles and New York City, and at 40 Live Nation amphitheaters across 23 states, including iconic venues like the Gorge Amphitheater, Northwell at Jones Beach Theater and Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront.
At select venues, JOLENE will be poured into four premium cocktails. At major festivals, the brand will
power high-energy fan activations designed to fuel the weekend, from first set to final encore.
“Shane shouted at me down the sidewalk ‘Let’s do something!’” says Kiedis. “I shouted back ‘how ‘bout
coffee’? He said ‘done’. And so began the adventure of putting a high-quality spin on a can of coffee. Now it’s time to put on some aprons and serve the world some delicious coffee. Simple and fun.” “I’ve been extremely lucky to have had a lot of life experiences,” co-founder Shane Powers says. “The adventure of visualizing JOLENE with Anthony from inception, to the execution with John and James, to the realization with Michael leaves me with a ton of gratitude. Like everything important in my life, this new experience will be shared with people over great coffee.”
Live Nation, Global Brand Equities and John Terzian have also made equity investments in JOLENE,
underscoring their belief in the brand’s potential to elevate the concert experience.
“Fans want options that fit the pace and energy of live music,” says Russell Wallach, global president of
Live Nation. “Cold brew has come up again and again, and JOLENE delivers — it’s high quality, easy to
enjoy, and adds something new to the fan experience. It’s one more way we’re evolving to meet what fans are asking for.”
“I have been in the business of people for the past two decades and one of the few things that everyone
has in common is coffee. Whether it’s celebrating, commiserating, or just catching up, coffee is the
common denominator,” says investor John Terzian of h.wood Group. “When Anthony and Shane came to
me about JOLENE, it was an instant mutual vision. Over five years ago we set out to create the best quality canned coffee for everyone and did not waver until we achieved that goal.”
To perfect the blend and taste, James Morrissey, Founder and CEO of Global Brand Equities, led the liquid development process, turning the best possible coffee, made with the highest quality ingredients, into a shelf-stable can.
“Creating a coffee of the highest quality taste and ingredient mix was a priority from the outset,” says
Global Brand Equities’ James Morrissey. “We spent a lot of time with Anthony, Shane and John tasting
many rounds until we landed on the perfect blend with JOLENE. Any successful brand must start with a
great product that can resonate with consumers, and JOLENE delivers.”
The team’s commitment to authenticity shines through in the coffee itself. JOLENE proudly sources its
coffee beans directly from an all-female co-op in Peru, ensuring that the women farmers who cultivate
these exceptional beans receive direct compensation and the resources needed to uplift their
communities.
