Questex announces winners of 2020 World Tea Best of Awards

Questex – organiser of the annual World Tea Conference + Expo – has now officially announced the winners of the 2020 World Tea Best of Awards, in which Tea & Coffee Trade Journal won for the “Best Tea Publication” category (announced previously in Vanessa Facenda’s blog here).

The awards featured nominees across 10 key categories. Winners were named during the World Tea Virtual Summit, which took place from 12-14 October 2020. The awards recognition programme honours some of best organisations, leaders, products and campaigns from the tea industry.

“Congratulations to this year’s World Tea Best of Awards winners, representing a wide range of innovations and companies offering tea and tea related products,” said FaithAnn Bailes, content manager for the World Tea Conference + Expo. “I am personally ‘over the moon’ about the award recipients, as they have all worked hard and deserve this recognition by their peers. Thank you to all of the winners for their contributions to the tea industry, and a huge thank you to all of the judges who worked very hard reviewing and investigating each nomination.”

The winners of the awards are:

Best Tea Video Content: Distinguishes the best use of video to enhance tea promotion or to promote tea products.

  • Winner: “Matcha Art” by ITO EN

Best Tea Industry Innovation: Honours a new innovation that impacts the business of tea, moves tea forward in a positive way, or increases tea’s visibility in the beverage industry.

  • Winner: The Great Mississippi Tea Company – Jason McDonald and Timothy Gipson

Best Global Tea Excellence: Recognises sustainability and social programs, processing innovations, labour condition improvements etc.

  • Winner: Elephant Origins

Best Tea Product: Honours eco-friendly or creative products, including tea blend development, teapots, tea infusers, design etc.

  • Winner: The Scents of Tea

Best Service Excellence Award: Commends tea presentation and customer service that promotes growth in consumer awareness and tea appreciation.

  • Winner: The G.S. Haly Company

Best Tea Startup: Recognises a new tea business that’s a shining example of how to do things right.

  • Winner: Fusspot Collagen Beauty Tea (Australia)

Best Tea Advocate: Honours a person or company that represents tea in a positive light by using a new approach, or by lecturing about tea or using tea in a meaningful way.

  • Winner: Ramaz Chanturiya, Chairman, Tea Masters Cup

Best Tea Campaign: Recognises the best tea campaign, which includes new branding ideas, marketing efforts, ad campaigns, events, product promotion and other fresh ideas.

  • Winner: Flying Tea Kits by Café Barnabas

Best Tea Culinary / Craft Application: Highlights the best in craft and culinary tea applications in food and beverage.

  • Winner: Eat More Tea – Lisa McDonald, owner, TeaHaus

Best Tea Publication: Honours the best tea publication, blog or other media outlet that covers tea.

  • Winner: Tea & Coffee Trade Journal, Bell Publishing

Nominees for the World Tea Best of Awards were submitted earlier this year and finalists were determined by a panel of judges from the tea industry, as well as Questex’s World Tea team.
