Coffee Project NY debuts ultra-rare Colombia Maragesha

Coffee Project NY, an independent New York-based coffee roaster and education hub, is unveiling its latest limited release: a single-origin Colombia Maragesha from the Quindío region.
This offering reflects Coffee Project NY’s ongoing mission to showcase exceptional, story-driven specialty coffees from around the world, according to the company.
Grown at the highest elevation of Finca Jardines del Encanto, the highly coveted Maragesha is a hybrid of two legendary cultivars, Gesha and Maragogipe. First identified at Finca Villa Betuila in 2017 by farmer Luis Aribal Calderon, Maragesha is now cultivated for export by only three farms in Colombia.
Maragogipe, a natural mutation of Typica discovered in Brazil in 1870, is known for its large bean size and delicate profile, but is notoriously low-yielding and challenging to grow.
Crossbred with the prized Gesha, known for its floral qualities, the resulting varietal features a unique flavour profile with high cup quality. This particular expression, naturally processed and grown at 2,050 MASL, has earned a cupping score above 90.
