5 to go sets a record for expansion, with an average of 16 new cafes opening monthly

Since the beginning of this year, the 5 to go expansion rate has been ramped up and reached an average of 16 units open per month. 64 new cafes are open and 17 are in the process of being refurbished. The evolution of the number of units places 5 to go on the first place in the top of the coffee chains opened in Romania, with a market share of 48.7% at the end of 2021, in increase compared with 2020, when it reached 44.9% (according to the Allegra World Coffee Portal study for 2021, published this year). The next ranked in the top is a large global chain of cafes, with a share of only 9.6% in Romania.

The evolution is also reflected in the level of consumption, which led to a 34% increase in turnover compared to the same number of units in the same period last year. The growth is a consequence of the diversification of the portfolio by introducing new healthier ranges, organic, vegan, sugar-free or gluten-free products.

“We have set bold goals for 2022, and the beginning of the year has come with positive signals, which make us believe with even greater intensity that we will end this year at least with a 100% goal – 200 units open on the plan local. A great achievement of this year is the shaping of the international business model. We have defined this model, already successfully launched on three international markets – France, Belgium and Great Britain -, soon to be launched in Hungary as well”, said Radu Savopol, co-founder of 5 to go.

Hungary, the fourth international market for 5 to go!

In June, a new city appears on the 5 to go map: Budapest. Through a collaboration with a successful local entrepreneur, the brand will be available in the first cafe opened in Hungary, in Budapest, but also for franchise opportunities for several cafes. Now, the development plan is to open five cafes through the local master-franchisee, by the end of the year.

New 5 to go concepts are conquering cities

This year also, 5 to go continues to surprise its customers with innovations and awards, from the launch of new ranges and products to new concepts, creative campaigns, and special offers. Recently, a new concept conquered the inhabitants of the Romania’s capital – 5 to go PLUS, launched through a concept location in the heart of the city. Through this concept, 5 to go brings a new air and a vibrant decor, in a space that invites customers to take a few minutes break from the urban hustle and bustle, for peace, colour and aroma.

Founded in 2015, 5 to go is the first Romanian cafe chain recognized and awarded internationally and has registered a spectacular evolution in terms of brand indicators and in the development of the cafe network. Since its launch, the pace of development has been accelerated, reaching, by the end of 2021, close to the threshold of 300 units open nationwide. And in 2022, one of the most important objectives of the group remains massive development at national level, by opening 200 new locations and reaching a total of 1,000 cafes in Romania in the next 5 years.
