T&CTJ has a lot planned for our 120th anniversary!

I referenced it in a blog earlier this year but did not really tout that in 2021, we are celebrating Tea & Coffee Trade Journal’s 120th anniversary! It is still hard to imagine reaching such a milestone, but we are extremely proud of this achievement, especially amid the challenging, odd, and unprecedented environment last year and this year.

To honour the occasion, we have several exciting – and beneficial to our readers and advertisers – rollouts planned for this year. The first is Marketplace, which is a new section on our website that will be launching this month. Marketplace is a practical portal where companies may buy and sell equipment and parts or surplus products, and post job openings. As well as these postings, Marketplace is actually so much more and companies may post news about coffee and tea items that are beyond T&CTJ’s core coverage, such as dairy and non-dairy additives, tea and coffee-flavoured edibles (ice cream, baked goods, liqueurs), accessories (tea pots, to go cups) and book reviews, among many other things, for a nominal fee. If you have any questions, please contact our Digital Editor, Alex Rivers ([email protected]) or me (see the address below).

To commemorate our 120th anniversary, we are planning a special issue for the July/August edition. It has been fun researching our history and seeing the “important stories of the day” as well as companies that existed at the time of the magazine’s founding in 1901 — some of which, like us, are still active today! If anyone has any old copies of T&CTJ (preferably the early part of the 20th century but the latter half will suffice), or any anecdotes, stories or old images to share, please, please contact me (the address is listed below). For any company looking to advertise in this issue, please contact Steve Crowhurst ([email protected]).

And last, but certainly not least, Tea & Coffee World Cup is back — virtually, that is! Tea & Coffee World Cup, The Virtual Show will take place on Wednesday, 8 September 2021. Our first digital event will be a combination of presentations and skills sessions, as well as a virtual exhibition hall. We will continue to share information on speakers and presentations as it becomes available so visit: www.tcworldcup.com or contact our events manager, Kyra O’Sheen ([email protected]) for updates, exhibiting, speaking and sponsorship opportunities.

We look forward to celebrating this benchmark anniversary and banner year with you, our subscribers, advertisers and readers, so please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments or ideas.
