Two Chimps Coffee has partnered with Loughborough craft drinks producer Steep Soda to launch its first Nitrogen-Infused Cold Brew, bringing speciality-grade coffee to the ready-to-drink market to mark the roastery’s tenth anniversary.
Independent speciality coffee roastery Two Chimps Coffee is challenging perceptions of ready-to-drink coffee with the launch of its first Nitrogen-Infused Cold Brew – a canned coffee made using 100% speciality-grade Arabica coffee. Developed in partnership with Steep Soda, the new Cold Brew has been created to prove that convenience doesn’t have to come at the expense of quality.
The launch marks another milestone for the roastery as it celebrates its tenth anniversary, continuing its mission to make speciality coffee more accessible without compromising on the standards that define it.
While much of the ready-to-drink coffee market relies on lower-grade coffee, milk and sweeteners, Two Chimps set out to create a product that celebrates what speciality coffee is all about: exceptional beans, full traceability and incredible flavour.
After months of testing coffees, roast profiles and brewing techniques, the team selected their coffee roast, The Flute-Playing Fruit – a medium-dark roasted, single-origin coffee from Isano Lot 1, Mbare, Rwanda.
Rather than brewing with hot water, the coffee is slowly extracted in cold water over many hours. This process creates a naturally sweeter, smoother coffee with lower acidity, allowing its distinctive notes of dark chocolate, sweet dates and caramelised cola to shine through. It is then infused with nitrogen, giving the coffee an exceptionally smooth, creamy mouthfeel without adding milk, sugar or artificial ingredients.
Andy Cross, co-founder of Two Chimps Coffee, said: “We didn’t want to launch just another canned coffee. We wanted to create something that speciality coffee drinkers would be excited about. Every decision started with the coffee itself – finding a bean that would still express its character when brewed cold. Working with the brilliant team at Steep Soda allowed us to create a ready-to-drink coffee that stays true to everything speciality coffee stands for.”
Every can is made using:
- 100% speciality-grade Arabica coffee
- A fully traceable, single-origin Rwandan coffee
- Coffee scoring 85.25 on the Speciality Coffee Association scale
- Slow cold-water brewing for naturally low acidity and smooth flavour
- Nitrogen infusion for a velvety, creamy finish without dairy
- Coffee roasted by hand at Two Chimps’ independent Rutland roastery before being brewed and canned in the UK
Laura Shead, co-founder of Two Chimps Coffee, added: “For us, speciality coffee has always been about quality, traceability and flavour. We wanted to show that those same values could exist in a can. This isn’t a shortcut to good coffee, it’s simply another way to enjoy genuinely speciality coffee wherever you are.”
The Nitrogen-Infused Cold Brew is available now in individual 250ml cans or in packs of 6 or 12 through selected wholesale partners and directly from Two Chimps Coffee.
