Caffe Luxxe celebrates 10 years

In 2006, Caffe Luxxe was created by two best friends, Mark Wain and Gary Chau, who quit their corporate jobs to build a dream of owning a local neighborhood café. Their first café in Santa Monica, Calif., helped Los Angeles drinkers discover what fine coffee could taste like, and to encourage people to turn off their technology for a moment and visit to socialize with family and friends.

Caffe Luxxe is recognised as the pioneer of the third wave of coffee in Los Angeles, being the first in the city to have started the trend towards small hand crafted freshly roasted artisanal coffees, before national scale outsiders such as Stumptown and Blue Bottle entered the market. Caffe Luxxe is still one of the few truly local coffee roasters born and raised in Los Angeles (Santa Monica specifically). Caffe Luxxe now operates three locations in Santa Monica and Brentwood.

Caffe Luxxe celebrates its 10th year anniversary this year with an exclusive limited edition 10th Anniversary Blend that launches 3 August. This Anniversary Blend celebrates the values Caffe Luxxe started with: appreciation for time, craft, tradition, quality, and the people involved every step of the way from the coffee farmer, our master roaster, to our barista, and eventually into the hands of customers. The coffee is a lively celebration of this journey and all of these people.

Wain, co-owner and master roaster, traveled to Costa Rica, and hand selected two coffees representing a traditional washed process, and a natural process, which is rare to find in Central America. He then complimented the blend with another from Uganda that is organic and sustainably sourced. This unique combination of coffees also celebrates the lost culinary art of blending to create exceptional balance. It showcases Caffe Luxxe’s signature roasting style, featuring great structure, simple yet elegant, and finesse.

“These coffees when brought together create a profile of cherry and white grape which contributes to its lively balanced acidity, while also being grounded and balanced with hints of candied pecan and milk chocolate. With a medium silky body, it completes with a sweet lingering finish,” said Wain.

The 10th Anniversary Blend is available beginning today (3 August ) at Caffe Luxxe and online at Free samples will also be offered at all Caffe Luxxe locations starting today.

Continuing on with the celebration, on 4 August, Caffe Luxxe is offering free drinks all day to thank its neighborhood friends and family.
