South London based husband and wife team, MOMO Kombucha, create Great Taste Award winning kombucha using natural methods; 8 May 2025 sees the New Covent Garden Market based brewery launch another new collaborative kombucha, the limited-edition Cold-Brew Coffee Kombucha in collaboration with the Tate available from MOMO, Tate Galleries and London Coffee Festival.

Tate Modern will be celebrating its 25th birthday on the weekend of the 9 – 12 May, with the world-renowned Southbank gallery expecting around 100,000 attendees. As part of the festivities the Tate wanted to work with local makers, including MOMO Kombucha, based around the corner in Vauxhall, to create collaborative options for food & drink, to be served across the Tate’s food and beverage outlets, while stocks last.

Inspired by Matisse’s view that “it is not enough to place colours, however beautiful, one beside the other; colours must also react on one another,” MOMO set out to create a Coffee Kombucha that captures that same sense of balance. The coffee was sourced through Coffee by Tate’s Gender Equality Project, a project rooted in quality and impact; it was then roasted on the grounds of Tate Britain before being cold-brewed at MOMO’s HQ, then bottled and adorned with legendary artwork, emblem of Tate Modern’s 25th, Henri Matisse’s The Snail. Created in 1953, The Snail is a large-scale collage created using painted paper cut-outs, a prominent example of Matisse’s “gouaches découpées,” a series of works created by cutting and pasting painted paper.

Josh Puddle, co-founder of MOMO Kombucha says, “We began with a light, refreshing sencha tea as our base: delicate enough to let the fruity notes of the coffee shine through. After a series of cuppings, we selected a naturally processed Rwandan coffee with vibrant notes of strawberry, nectarine, and oolong; creating a well-rounded kombucha with a distinctive coffee flavour with caramel notes that soften the tangy kombucha base, befitting of Tate Modern’s 25th birthday and the truly special Matisse which we have been privileged to use as part of our label.”

Josh and the MOMO Kombucha team will be attending the London Coffee Festival from the 15 – 18 May, located at stand SH34 – MOMO will be sampling the new Cold-Brew Coffee Kombucha all weekend.
