British Airways has announced a new partnership with Birchall Tea, a British tea producer. The airline will introduce a range of Birchall teas to its offering, available both on board and in its lounges, as part of a focus on British products.
From 1 May, British Airways customers will be served Birchall tea in all long-haul cabins, including World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), Club World (long-haul business), and First. The teas will also be available on short-haul Club Europe (short-haul business) flights from June, and for purchase in Euro Traveller (economy) from July via the High Life Café. Birchall teas will also be introduced across the airline’s global lounge network.
Calum Laming, chief customer officer at British Airways, said, “Last year, we served more than 37 million cups of tea on board and more than two million cups in our lounges. Selecting a new tea partner was therefore an important decision.”
Daniel Graham, managing director of Birchall Tea, said, “We are pleased to be supplying tea for British Airways, which represents a long-standing British heritage. We look forward to passengers enjoying Birchall teas both in the air and on the ground.”
In First, customers can choose from a range of specialty teas, including Birchall Great Rift English Breakfast, Camomile, Lemongrass & Ginger, Great Rift Decaffeinated, and Red Berry & Flower.
In Club World, the selection includes English Breakfast, Decaffeinated English Breakfast, Peppermint, Green Tea, and Earl Grey. Birchall string and tag teabags are made from plant-based fibres, produced in a solar-powered facility.
World Traveller Plus and World Traveller cabins will offer English Breakfast and Decaffeinated English Breakfast teas.
From June, Club Europe customers can choose from Great Rift Breakfast Blend, Decaffeinated English Breakfast, Peppermint, and Green Tea. From July, Birchall teas will be available to purchase in Euro Traveller via the High Life Café.
In British Airways’ Concorde Room, guests can choose from blends such as Great Rift Breakfast Blend, Great Rift Decaffeinated, Virunga Earl Grey, and Mao Feng Green.
In First and Club lounges, options will include English Breakfast, Decaffeinated English Breakfast, Red Berry & Flower, and Peppermint.
