Matcha has recently become the darling of coffee shops and aesthetic social media videos, with its vibrant green colour and soothing preparation ritual. But its history is ancient, dating back thousands of years to the Tang Dynasty in China. It was then brought to Japan by a Zen Buddhist monk in the 1100s, where tea became an exercise of devotion. With a rich and honored history, quality matters when enjoying matcha. That’s why The Spice & Tea Exchange sources the finest ceremonial grade tea for its pure and enhanced matcha products.

“Tea is one of those things that is truly meant to be enjoyed in a sensorial fashion,” says Fallon Gonzalez Mayer, marketing manager for The Spice & Tea Exchange. “The colour, scent, purity, these qualities matter. Ceremonial Grade isn’t just a fancy marketing term for our matcha. Only the best matcha receives that designation, indicating a product so refined it can be enjoyed on its own.”

Matcha has a slightly nutty, grassy flavour with a vibrant green colour that comes from growing the tea in the shade, producing higher levels of chlorophyll. Matcha can be enjoyed hot, cold, as a latte or anything you can dream of. Or take tea out on the town with a Spicy Matcha Margarita and bump up breakfast with Matcha Strawberry Overnight Oats. The Spice & Tea Exchange has added two new products to its matcha family: Blueberry Matcha and Tropical Mango Matcha.

  • Ceremonial Matcha: Pure, unadulterated matcha in its finest form, this high-quality tea has a smoother flavour and more vibrant green colour than culinary grade matcha.
  • Blueberry Matcha: The rich umami of matcha meets the sweet and tangy essence of juicy blueberry in this brew.
  • Tropical Mango Matcha: Ripe mango lends a boost of tropical flavour to the finest ceremonial grade matcha.
  • Sweet Matcha: Deliciously sweetened with milled cane sugar, this creates the perfect matcha latte and adds complex flavour when swapped for sugar in baked goods.
  • Matcha Your Way Gift Box: Become a tea mixologist with a curated gift box featuring Ceremonial Matcha and a selection of sweeteners and aromatics to personalize and enhance an array of matcha preparations.
