Blank Street Coffee joins The Sidings at Waterloo

New York coffee brand, Blank Street Coffee, has opened its latest London location at The Sidings, LCR’s new dynamic experience-led destination within the former Eurostar terminal at Waterloo station.

The brand, which offers high-quality coffee at an accessible price, uses tech-enhanced espresso machines designed to produce the perfect cup of coffee consistently and at speed.

Blank Street’s new outlet at The Sidings represents the 14th London location for the brand, which was founded in Brooklyn, New York in Summer 2020. Its ethos is that great coffee should be convenient to consumers and priced in a way that makes it practical for everyday routines. Blank Street offers a range of coffee and other beverages, as well as a speciality Signatures menu that features favourites such as a pistachio latte and cold brew coffees.

The lettings are the latest in a wave of new businesses and operators joining The Sidings. International independent brewer BrewDog opened its new 26,000 sq. ft global flagship location in Summer 2022, welcoming more than 20,000 visitors over its first weekend, who enjoyed live music performances and the games area featuring ten pin bowling and a slide between two floors.

Meanwhile, a new immersive theatre concept – Labyrinth – has taken 45,000 sq. ft in a specially-converted basement that will be home to its Olivier Award-nominated show Alice’s Adventures Underground. Labyrinth will house a new bar and restaurant that offers bespoke Alice’s Adventures Underground cocktails and modern British food with a Wonderland twist.

Other brands already open at The Sidings include boutique Belgian chocolatier, Neuhaus, luxury skincare brand, Kiehl’s, and nationwide newsagent WHSmith.

A new pedestrianised street – Waterloo Curve – will also be introduced to connect the station and The Sidings to the wider South Bank area. It will reflect its creative spirit and the already iconic surrounding locations such as Leake Street Arches, Royal Festival Hall and the National Theatre.

Peter Hawthorne, CEO of LCR, said: “For many, coffee is a crucial part of our daily lives and Blank Street Coffee is changing the game for making quality coffee more accessible. The innovative nature of its new location at The Sidings mirrors the vibrant atmosphere at the new landmark retail concept, as well as the wider South Bank.”

Ignacio Llado Alvarez-Salas, managing director at Blank Street Coffee, said: “We are committed to offering exceptional quality coffee at affordable prices to all Londoners. Our new location at The Sidings has efficiency at its core, and will be perfect for catering to the busy commuter.”

LCR is a purpose-led, values-driven sustainable regeneration company, creating exciting new destinations for people to live, work and experience. Wholly owned by the UK Government, it has a 25-year track record of delivering major transport-linked regeneration schemes, including the multi-billion-pound redevelopments of King’s Cross and Stratford City – two of London’s most successful regeneration stories.
