WOC 2022 boasts 11,000+ attendees & crowns five new World Coffee Champions

Coffee professionals from over the world came together in Milan, Italy, 23-25 June for the first World of Coffee since 2019. According to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), which organises World of Coffee (WOC), a record 11,000+ attendees from over 137 countries walked a sold-out show floor where over 350 exhibiting companies showcased the latest products and services available to the industry. WOC featured five World Coffee Championships, 28 cupping room sessions, more than 25 SCA lectures, and nine workshops that were delivered for the very first time at World of Coffee.

WOC attendees were able to network on the show floor again and discover the new innovations and products from the industry. This year’s put a spotlight on Guatemalan Coffees, the official Portrait Country, a designation given to a different coffee-producing country at WOC every year.

The Green Coffee Buyers and Sellers program launched in Europe for the first time after a successful launch at Specialty Coffee Expo in Boston, Massachusetts earlier this year. The program provides a platform for buyers and sellers to build new relationships, share coffee samples, and grow their business networks. Program participants were able to connect each other through the WOC app and set up in-person meetings during the show.

The 2022 Best New Product Competition recognised ten new products in ten different categories, judged on their quality and value to the specialty coffee and tea industry. The Coffee Design Awards awarded the prize for great design in packaging.

The 2022 World Coffee Championships featured five competitions across the three days. The five newly crowned World Coffee Champions are:
• World Latte Art Champion – Carmen Clemente, Italy
• World Coffee in Good Spirits Champion – Agnieszka Rojewska, Poland
• World Cup Tasters Champion – Heongwan Moon, South Korea
• World Roasting Champion – Felix Teiretzbacher, Austria
• Cezve / Ibrik Champion – Michaela Ruazol – Recera, United Arab Emirates

World of Coffee 2023 will take place in Athens, Greece, 22-24 June.
