London restaurant and coffee roastery group expands with support from HSBC UK

London-based restaurant, bar, and coffee roastery group, Caravan, has expanded after opening
a new site in Canary Wharf with the support of a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK.
HSBC UK customers since inception in 2010, Caravan used the funding to support the fit-out
of its latest restaurant opening in Canary Wharf.

Caravan’s seventh London restaurant, the 3,700 sq. ft site in Reuters Plaza, offers customers
a variety of all-day dining options. From breakfast to small plates, cocktails, and its renowned
coffee offerings, the venue taps into the renewed passing business trade and an increasing
number of weekend diners in the area.

The continued successful growth of the restaurant business allows Caravan the freedom to
invest further into growing the coffee roastery’s retail coffee offer and subscription service, which
has seen a significant spike in interest over the last two years, as a result of coffee drinkers
looking to recreate the premium, out-of-home coffee experience in their own kitchens. Most
recently, Caravan has launched brand new compostable coffee pods, which will allow even
more people to get the Caravan experience at home.

Greg Hinchliffe, Commercial Director at Caravan Restaurants, said: “We are very grateful
for the support given to us by HSBC UK throughout the pandemic and the launch of our latest
opening. Canary Wharf has seen huge investment in its residential population and hospitality
offering, and we’re excited to welcome diners to try our well travelled menu.

“We’ve been roasting our own coffee since we opened our first restaurant in 2010, and selling
our beans directly to customers who wanted to brew at home. The success of our growing group
of restaurants has enabled us to invest more into our D2C business and grow it into a retail
brand, from enhancing our environmental credentials to investing in new machinery and
infrastructure.”

Alec Robb, corporate relationship director at HSBC UK, added: “We’ve supported
Caravan Restaurants from site to site as it’s grown rapidly over the last decade. With a new
consolidated funding scheme in place, we’re delighted that we could support the development
of its newest site, allowing the business to take its next step towards fulfilling its ambitions for
growth.”

Located in the heart of Canary Wharf, Caravan Restaurant sits alongside Konstantin Grcic’s
iconic ‘Six Public Clocks’ artwork, and serves its signature food and drink menu and freshly
roasted craft coffee.
