Teapigs has opened its first pop up shop at The Old Truman Brewery in East London. The shop opened today – 14 August – and will run through 19 August.

“If we had a pound for every time someone told us we need to open a shop, well…we’d probably have enough to open a shop by now so we’re finally doing it!” says Louise Cheadle, Teapigs co-founder and tea taster. “If it goes well, who knows, maybe it’ll become a more permanent thing.”

With a packed week of events lined up, plus Teapigs’ entire range of teas all under one roof (hot cuppas, iced teas, matcha lattes – plus full packs), tea lovers and any businesses that want to up their tea game are invited to visit the pop up shop. What is more, every single penny spent in store and collected from the events will be donated to The Point Foundation, a charity that works with vulnerable members of the tea growing communities in Rwanda which is where the majority of teapigs’ everyday brew is sourced.

“We’re committed to supporting the communities that bring us our tea,” Cheadle says. “We make a donation to the Point Foundation charity in Rwanda with every pack of everyday brew we sell and we match donations our customers make online. The money raised improves the lives of vulnerable young people in the area.” Teapigs has raised over £200k so far. “We’re so pleased that the profits from this pop up will all go towards supporting our ethical scheme and we’re excited to do more – with everyone’s help – as we grow,” she says.

Teapigs invites everyone who is interested in how to improve their tea offering for their business to visit the pop up shop and learn more about how tea is made from “plantation to mug.” With a wide array of drinks to purchase visitors will be able to see some of teapigs ‘more than just a cuppa’ recipes in action and try everything from summery iced tea to tea lattes, which are perfect for the colder months.

Teapigs will have all its merchandising and POS materials on display, so visitors can imagine how Teapigs can fit into its business.

When: Tuesday 14 – Sunday 19 August from 8am – 9pm
Where: The Old Truman Brewery, 8 Dray Walk, Shoreditch, E1 6NJ (opposite Big Chill)
