Caffe Luxxe opens newest café in Malibu

Artisan coffee roaster Caffe Luxxe opened its newest café in Malibu, California on 26th April at 22333 Pacific Coast Highway.

Based in the Los Angeles metro area, the Malibu location is Caffe Luxxe’s first new café in seven years, joining its Santa Monica and Brentwood shops in bringing a European-inspired, luxury coffee experience to neighbourhoods alongside a strong focus on approachability, authenticity and personal connection. Steps away from Carbon Beach (nicknamed “Billionaire’s Beach” for its affluent residents such as David Geffen), Caffe Luxxe joins a culinary and luxury hospitality resurgence in the area that includes Malibu Farm Pier Café and Restaurant, SoHo House’s Little Beach House, Nobu Restaurant and the upcoming Nobu Ryokan Hotel, amongst others.

The new Malibu café has Caffe Luxxe’s typical consumer base—wealthy, well-travelled, well-educated daily customers who live in the neighbourhood. But co-owner Gary Chau added, “Mixed in we see a significantly higher number of tourists than our other cafés, which makes sense given the city and beach location.”

The new Malibu coffee shop will expand upon the layout of existing Caffe Luxxe locations with a larger retail section and an outdoor courtyard seating area. “The Caffe Luxxe ambience is one where family and friends can get together in a social environment, and your barista knows your name and favorite drink; a true sense of neighbourhood is essential to our philosophy and lifestyle, and we’ve found that here at our new beachside home,” said Caffe Luxxe owners Chau and Mark Wain.

To celebrate the opening of its newest café, Caffe Luxxe has released a new limited edition coffee named the “Malibu Blend,” inspired by the essence of Malibu Beach and roasted to be enjoyed either hot or iced. The medium and creamy bodied coffee evokes a sweet caramel aroma, a vibrant, crisp acidity, and flavour notes of orange cream, floral, and deep spice, marking the seasonal transition from the deep bold flavors and colors of winter into the lighter notes of spring and summer. A blend of Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance coffees, all certified organic and sourced from family-owned farms in Ethiopia, Colombia and Peru, the beans have all been processed using a fully washed method, resulting in a cleaner, brighter taste. All coffee is hand-roasted locally in small batches at Caffe Luxxe’s Il Laboratorio facility. The Malibu Blend is available for purchase in shops and online: https://www.caffeluxxe.com/shop/coffee.

Chau noted that they have added a sparkling tap for the water in the Malibu café and will be starting to experiment with sparkling teas this summer.

Caffe Luxxe was founded in 2006. The addition of the Malibu café brings the total of Caffe Luxxe locations to three, with plans to open additional locations in Brentwood and Montecito later this year.
