Swedish-based coffee roaster Löfbergs has taken another step in sustainable coffee sourcing. Earlier this year, the family-owned company became one of the first in Europe to buy Regenerative Organic Certified coffee — a new and ambitious certification that goes beyond traditional organic standards.

Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) is built on three pillars: soil health, animal welfare and social fairness. The certification promotes farming methods that restore ecosystems, increase biodiversity and improve the livelihoods of farmers. It is widely regarded as the next evolution of organic agriculture.

“Having seen first-hand the positive feedback from producers adopting regenerative organic agricultural practices on a recent trip to Peru, we took the decision to purchase our first container of ROC coffee earlier this year from SACACLI cooperative in Jinotega, Nicaragua. We’re impressed by both the quality and the positive environmental impact,” says Jonny England, green coffee trading and blending manager at Löfbergs. “This is an important step towards a truly regenerative coffee sector, and we’re proud to support farmers who are leading the way.”

The move into ROC coffee is part of Löfbergs’ long-term commitment to climate action, responsible sourcing and resilient coffee communities.
