Peet’s Honours International Women’s Day Peet’s with Women-Grown Coffees

Peet’s Coffee is celebrating and recognising the many contributions of women to the world of coffee and supports the empowerment of women across the globe. This year, to commemorate International Women’s Day, Peet’s is offering a unique collection of women-grown coffees from across the globe.

The limited-edition Sisterhood Flight Collection, which launched 6 March, features three coffees that empower women to grow. 10% of all proceeds go towards the International Women’s Coffee Alliance. Sisterhood Flight Collection retails for USD $24.95 exclusively at participating Peet’s coffee bars while supplies last. The collections features coffee from the following farms:

Rwanda Les Soeurs: 96 women strong in Rwanda
” Beans with berry, honey and citrus notes produced by women who maintain their own farms on the hillsides of Rwanda’s Gakenke province, sharing best practices, profits, and pride in a cup well-grown.
” Notes: berries, malt, bright acidity.
” The soeurs, or sisters, are the professionals behind every single step in the process, from growing to drying.

Colombia Café Mujeres: 500 women strong in Columbia
” Once relegated to only preparing meals for farm labourers, these women now proudly claim coffee-grower status. Through a program created by Colombia’s Coocentral cooperative, they learned technical skills to properly harvest, ferment, and dry their crops, vastly improving the quality, yield, and value of their coffee.

Nicaragua Las Hermanas: 180 women strong in Nicaragua
” Grown by a sisterhood of 180 women in the highlands of Jinotega, Nicaragua. These farmers are part of SOPPEXCCA, a cooperative which has been a leader in promoting gender equality and empowering women. Peet’s has worked with Las Hermanas farmers since 2003.

” The members of Las Hermanas, a cooperative nestled in the coffee-conducive highlands of Jinotega, Nicaragua, understand the inextricable link between coffee quality and quality of life. Peet’s has been working with them for 15 years, walking their path from subsistence to sustainability.
