Tejava Awarded Global Tea Championship Gold Medal for Iced Tea

Crystal Geyser Water Company has announced that its Tejava brand was awarded the Gold Medal in the 2017 Global Tea Championship (GTC) Iced Tea Class for the sixth time. The competition, judged by tea professionals, compares teas from around the globe based on flavour, body and colour. Tejava was selected as the best in the category of Straight Black Ready-to-Drink (RTD) iced tea.

“This is a tremendous honor for Tejava,” said Lorna Oshiro, senior brand manager at Crystal Geyser, based in San Francisco, California. “With the competition now open to global submissions, the event organisers set the bar for the gold medal much higher than in the past. Among the reasons Tejava was awarded first place include the tea’s colour, clarity, flavour, smooth taste and good body.”

Tejava is a 100% all-natural, unsweetened black tea made from handpicked tea leaves from the island of Java, Indonesia. Leaves are hand-picked from tea plants between May till October – the optimum harvesting months. The leaves are then brewed in small batches, a unique processing technique that yields rich, full-bodied flavour with no sweeteners, preservatives, or artificial ingredients.

Tejava was the 2016 First Place Winner for best tasting unsweetened, unflavoured black iced tea in the Global Tea Championship, following four previous victories from 2011 to 2014 (previously, GTC wins were categorized as First, Second and Third place before being changed to Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals in 2017).

Tejava is verified by the Non-GMO Project, and sources its tea exclusively from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. Tejava is available in 12-ounce and 1-liter glass containers, 16.9-ounce PET plastic bottles, and the newly released tea pods. To find retail locations or for more information, visit www.tejava.com.
