SCA opens Global Specialty Coffee Expo to the public

For the first time in its 29-year history, the Global Specialty Coffee Expo is opening its doors to the public. Organised by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), this will be a unique opportunity for coffee enthusiasts to explore the largest coffee event in the country, and check out the latest brewers, newest trends and meet the people that make great coffee happen around the world.

On Sunday, 23 April, coffee drinkers in Seattle, Washington, are invited to immerse themselves in all things coffee. The Expo, which begins today at the Washington State Convention Center and runs through Sunday, attracts best-in-class manufacturers, retailers and professionals from all around the world, and from throughout the coffee supply chain. Attendees will be able to try an incredible range of styles from the best of the best, especially at the US Coffee Championships where on Sunday afternoon a new U.S. Barista Champion will be crowned – last won in Seattle by Laila Willbur in 2014.

The cost to enter is USD $50 and the hours run from 10:30am to 4pm on 23 April.

Other elements include Uppers and Downers, a popular event series by Good Beer Hunting that explores the growing trend of coffee beers, a scientific poster session showcasing new research, and special exhibits celebrating great design and best new products.
