Tully’s Coffee Names Martin
Tully’s Coffee Corporation has appointed Robert D. Martin as vice president of merchandising and production. In this role, Martin will oversee all supply chain functions, as well as all marketing responsibilities for Tully’s.

“Martin has a long history in operations successfully managing multiple marketing and merchandising departments, and will bring a new energy and focus to our growing business,” said John Dresel, Tully’s Coffee president and chief operating officer.

Martin brings with him 14 years of experience working for the Seattle Sonics and Seattle Storm, most recently as the vice president of marketing where he was responsible for all marketing, advertising, promotions, public relations, community relations, operations, and creative services. He also served as the president of the Sonics and Storm T.E.A.M Foundation.

Founded in 1992, Tully’s Coffee Corporation is a leading specialty coffee retailer, wholesaler and roaster.

Filterfresh Appointments
Filterfresh Coffee Service Inc., a subsidiary of Van Houtte Inc., has appointed Dawn Sanders and Kevin Brown as director of acquisitions and corporate comptroller, respectively. Both will report directly to company president Roger Cohen.

“Our business strategy for the past two years has been to grow the company through an aggressive slate of acquisitions,” said Cohen. “Given Dawn’s considerable skills in this area, she will be essential in identifying and pursuing new business additions. At the same time, Kevin, who has extensive experience in finance and accounting, will be a great asset in handling Filterfresh’s financial operations.”

Prior to joining Filterfresh, Sanders served as vice president at Branch Banking and Trust Company, where she was instrumental in underwriting, structuring and negotiating deals. Brown most recently was vice president of Finance at Surebridge, Inc., a privately held $50 million data hosting company.

Filterfresh Coffee Service, Inc., based in Westwood, Massachusetts, is a subsidiary of Van Houtte Inc. The company, a pioneer in single-cup coffee makers, provides equipment, beverages, programs and services to offices, manufacturing facilities, supermarkets, hotels, retailers and other places of employment.

Rovema Names Hart
Rovema Packaging Machines has promoted David Hart to regional sales manager for the Southwest territory. Hart will be covering the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

Hart joined Rovema in 2000 and has been working for the inside sales group, supporting other Rovema regional sales managers and agents. Prior to joining Rovema, Hart worked for Maxxis International.

“David has become extremely knowledgeable with Rovema’s product line. We feel our customers will reap the benefits of his expertise,” said Charlotte Koellner, director of sales and customer service for Rovema North America.

Rovema has also hired Stephanie Striplin and Nathale Rothman to further complement its inside sales group under the leadership of Stephanie McDaniel.

With over 40 years of packaging experience, Rovema has had over 25,000 installations worldwide and is located in suburban Atlanta.

New Board Members Join Grounds for Health
Grounds for Health, a Vermont-based non-profit organization whose mission is to provide cervical cancer screening in coffee-growing communities adds new board members to its roster.

Tina Berard has been vice president of Atlantic Specialty Coffee, Inc. since its inception in 1996. Atlantic, a green coffee importer based in San Francisco, is a member of the Ecom Coffee Group with mills and exporting officer in every major coffee-producing region.

Paul Ralston started the Vermont Coffee Co. in 2002 and has been involved in the coffee industry since 1980. He also worked as president of Autumn Harp, a manufacturer of natural skincare products and as general manager for marketing for the Body Shop in London. Through his experience, he has come to believe that commerce in not only an exchange of things of value, but an exchange of values as well. He now serves as president of Vermont Family Forests.

Melissa Scholl is the president of Lexington Coffee Roasting Co., a roaster serving the eastern U.S. She brings a variety of skills including business management, marketing and public relations.
