Supplier of high-barrier, graphics-intensive flexible packaging Pacific Bag Inc. of Bellevue, Washington has named two new regional sales and marketing representatives to service customers in the Southwest. Ed Livingston will be based out of San Diego and Paul Dvorak will be based out of Dallas. The company’s president, Matt Young, stated, “These two individuals are clearly committed to setting the standards for excellence in customer service and support.”

McDowell Appointed V.P. of Universal Commodities
Jem McDowall has been appointed to vice president of tea trading at Universal Commodities (Tea) Trading, Inc. (UCTT).

McDowall brings to the company 15 years of experience in the tea industry worldwide. After joining Lipton Tea Services, U.K. in 1984, he spent two years in Sri Lanka with Lipton Ceylon. He then moved to the U.K. in a buying capacity for one year before relocating to Malawi, where he managed the Lipton Tea (Malawi) buying and trading business for four years. In 1993, he returned to the U.K. to manage Unilever Market Development International’s tea product development function, encompassing markets as diverse as Poland, Uzbekistan, Syira, Ukraine, and Morocco. Most recently he held the position of managing director, Haines & Co. (London) Ltd., the marketing agent for Brooke Bond East Africa teas in the U.K. and Europe.

As vice president, trading, McDowall will be responsible for overseeing the development and expansion of UCTT’s supplier base primarily in the areas of Ceylon, India, and Africa. He will also be responsible for international sales as well as assisting the trading team in servicing all existing clients and suppliers.

As McDowall settles into his new position, stated the company’s president, Domenica Ciaccia, UCTT will restructure the responsibilities of the trading team so as to maximize everyone’s individual strengths for the benefit of our clients and suppliers.

Bringing Well-rounded Knowledge to Imperial Tea
Christina Lianos has assumed responsibility of international research, sourcing, sales, and product development for the expanding specialty beverage ingredient division of Imperial Tea LLC. Additionally, she will assist in the further development and management of existing black and green tea bulk business.

Melchers Gets Coffee Man
Christopher Burke has joined Melchers Flavors of America, Inc. as the Midwest sales representative for gourmet coffee and tea flavors. Most recently Burke had worked as the Eastern U.S. sales and marketing manager for Kauai Coffee Co. His previous experience also includes coffee roaster/manager for Ann Marie’s Coffee & Tea in Wisconsin and the Rocky Mountain Roasting Co. in Montana.
